3D Printed Sample Rod Prototype
This is the first working prototype of a sampling rod, which pumps water through an e-DNA filter.
We built the prototype from 3D prints from our own printers and from waterjet-cut aluminum plate. The prototype is intended for field testing and is the final step before the rod goes into production.
The sampling rod is equipped with an e-ink screen, which has the advantage that it is still readable even in bright daylight. We have used these screens, which are normallly used for e-readers, with a maximum refresh rate that gives the user a good insight into the amount of water pumped through the filter.
The electronics for controlling the pump and the software for the e-ink screen were designed by Markus Mechatronics.
